I got a pretty flower arrangement in an orange flower pot a while back.
It was a cute flower pot, but I’m not the biggest fan of orange.
So I gave it a little paint for a new look.
Of course, I picked green spray paint – my favorite color!

Supply list for a flower pot makeover:
- Spray paint, I used Rust-Oleum’s Ultra Cover Paint + Primer Satin Green Apple
- Painter’s tape
- Drop cloth or tarp
I love this green color! I also used it on the tray I recently painted.
How to spray paint a flower pot:
1. Tape off any trim you don’t want to paint.
I liked the white trim at the top and wanted to keep it.
Taping around the curve of the flower pot was the worst part of this project. Taping on a curve always takes some time!
(Update: I found this painter’s tape that is AWESOME for taping on a curve!)
2. Spray paint the flower pot.
Spray painting was fun – and took just a few minutes!
3. Let it dry and then do a second coat for full coverage.
I set up the finished flower pot next to a lantern and green hydrangeas in the kitchen for a summery look.
GET THE LOOK:
Since a popular question I get is “Where’d you get that?!,” here are links to the same or similar sources:
- Wall color: Camelback by Sherwin Williams
- Counters: Blanco Canvas quartz
- Clock
- Window valances (DIY)
- Curtain rods here, but they’re not always available. These are similar.
- Curtain clip rings
- Lantern
- Red cushions
- Barstools
- Cabinet handles
- Faucet

Great update, and I love that color of green! Spray paint is such a quick and easy way to update something. I spray paint my outdoor flower pots a new color every year, it’s so much better than buying new.
