This neutral, blue and green bedroom is filled with such simple decorating ideas like reusing pieces from other rooms and painting an old dresser!
In the spirit of wrapping things up at the rental house, I wanted to share the guest bedroom makeover.
With the caveat that this room isn’t really ‘done’ like we might otherwise finish a room! There isn’t much wall decor and there aren’t any curtains, but it’s a far cry from the bright blue walls this room started with.
And a before:
(That’s a built-in desk under that window next to the bed … and since this is a rental, we couldn’t do anything about the big awning on the window behind the bed!)
And another before and after:

(Note the display case in the closet door!)
You may recall we painted this wall with our paint sprayer a few months ago.
We took the bedspread from the other bedroom when we updated to an all white one in there. It’s actually a king bedspread on a queen bed, but hey it works!
I had our yellow pillows on the bed and just wasn’t feeling the pop of yellow in here, so I swapped them out for the (same) cream pillows. I tend to buy pieces I really like in multiple colors, ha!
It’s crazy what a difference just swapping a couple pillows makes. I like the whole color scheme of the room so much better!
So if you’re not feeling a room, try swapping out some pillows and see if it makes a difference!
These nightstands are actually our old ones, too so they’re reunited with the old bedspread.
We got new, bigger nightstands a while ago, but these little black ones are perfect for a guest room.
The tan rug is from our family room. It really is fun to use pieces you already have in different rooms.
It makes it feel like you have new pieces without even busting out your credit card.
This blue dresser will end up in the nursery as a changing table after we move, but it was perfect for filling up this wall between the two closets.
You can see the easy dresser makeover here. We found this piece for free on the side of the road a couple years ago! It was originally white and bright blue with just one little drawer knob still hanging on.
Those faux hydrangeas are from Magnolia Market – such a fun little souvenir from our trip!
One of my other favorite guest room decorating ideas is to include my free printable wifi sign. Guests will want the wifi password anyway, why not display it in a pretty way?!
Just print it out (directions below), fill it in and display in a 4×6 frame. It will print off on a regular piece of computer paper, then cut it for either a vertical or horizontal frame.
HOW TO GET THE FREE PRINTABLE WIFI SIGN:
Sign up in the box below, and the link for the free printable will arrive in your inbox shortly. You’ll also be signed up to get blog posts and alerts about new printables moving forward. (If you’re already an email subscriber, you won’t get added to the email list twice.)
*Please note: All printables and downloads designed by Green with Decor are for personal use only. Please do not alter the files or claim them as your own. These files are not intended for resale, nor are the printed versions of these files.
And that’s as far as we got in here! It was the perfect cozy, neutral guest bedroom for friends and family.
