Check out this list for easy fall decorating and DIY project ideas.
Considering we’re in the middle of a move and have a newborn, we’re not quite decorating for fall around here.
Two perfectly good reasons but nonetheless, fall is my favorite season so I do miss decorating for it!
Instead I thought we could take a trip down memory lane and look at the fall decorating and DIYs from years past.
Which also ended up being a good reminder that we all start somewhere, and my photography and decorating have definitely improved over the years. (Because eek, the photos from the early fall posts just aren’t so good!)

Fall decorating ideas:
Fall home tour 2017, rental house:
We were still in the process of decorating most of the rental house when fall came around last year, so this is a smaller home tour. I added some fall touches to the mudroom and living room. The fall mudroom is one of my favorite ever spaces!

Fall home tour 2016, Milwaukee house:
This is my favorite fall home tour I’ve ever put together plus it’s the last fall tour in our Milwaukee house.

Fall outdoor tour 2016, Milwaukee house:
I put some fall touches on our patio that same year, too.

Fall home tour 2015, Milwaukee house:
Ah, here’s the not-so-good photography I was talking about! This was my first year blogging, and I’ve learned a lot about photography since then. 🙂

Affordable decorating ideas for fall:
Decorating for different seasons could cost you a million dollars if you let it, but I love doing things on a budget around here. So I put together some of my favorite budget-friendly seasonal decorating ideas.
See my affordable tips for decorating for fall.
Affordable fall pillows:
Speaking of budget-friendly, I put together a list of affordable fall pillows and pillow covers because I LOVE swapping out pillows throughout the year.

Delicious smelling fall candles:
I love these candles – and I’m super picky about scents! Plus these come in neutral colors, which is awesome if you don’t want orange everything all fall.

Fall DIY projects:
Fall DIY pillow:
This is one of my favorite fall DIYs. Every year I say I’m going to make a few more, and then I never quite get around to it … maybe eventually!
See the tutorial for the fall DIY pillow.
DIY Halloween jack-o-lanterns:
I really believe you can reuse ANY glass jar and very rarely toss them in the recycling bin. These little jack-o-lanterns were easy to make!

DIY cork pumpkins:
This was the only fall DIY I managed this year. I love little wine cork projects, and these were easy to make!

Thanksgiving DIY banner:
It might be a little early for Thanksgiving, but we all know it will sneak up and be here before we know it. Plus this Thanksgiving DIY involves a few soup cans so you better start slurping now if you want to make this sign before Thanksgiving!
See the tutorial for the Thanksgiving DIY banner.
(I made a St. Patrick’s Day DIY banner, too – the words ‘THANKFUL and ‘LUCKY’ use so many of the same letters, you only have to make a couple extra ones to get both signs!)
Thanksgiving place cards:
This just might be the easiest DIY on the entire blog. You can whip these up in 5 minutes before guests arrive.
See the tutorial for the Thanksgiving DIY place cards.
DIY burlap placemats:
These aren’t technically fall, but I made them in the fall and took photos of them with faux pumpkins so I always think of them as a fall project. And bonus, you could make these for Thanksgiving and then just use them year round.
See the tutorial for the DIY burlap placemats.
And one more fall idea … I’m all about the return of cocktail season around here so I put together a list of some festive fall drinks.
